Indications & Uses

Estravus 30 is a combined oral contraceptive indicated for women of reproductive potential for:

  • Prevention of pregnancy
  • Effective reversible contraception
  • Regulation of the menstrual cycle
  • Reduction of excessive or irregular menstrual bleeding
  • Relief from menstrual pain and discomfort
  • Improvement of hormone-related bloating and fluid retention
  • Potential improvement in androgen-related symptoms such as acne and oily skin

The primary approved indication is contraception. Other uses should be stated only when supported by the locally approved prescribing information.

Mechanism of Action

Estravus 30 provides contraception through complementary actions:

  • Suppresses the hypothalamic–pituitary–ovarian axis and inhibits ovulation.
  • Thickens cervical mucus, making sperm penetration more difficult.
  • Produces endometrial changes that reduce the likelihood of implantation.
  • Drospirenone provides progestogenic activity along with antiandrogenic and mild antimineralocorticoid properties.
  • Ethinylestradiol supports ovulation suppression and helps maintain menstrual-cycle control.

The contraceptive effect primarily results from inhibition of ovulation and alteration of cervical secretions.
